One of the downsides of newer cars is that they are increasingly controlled by on board computers. However, newer, increasingly more affordable devices such as the Chrysler MicroPod 2 are making it possible to much more easily diagnose problems with a car, especially when you download the wiTECH 2.0.

Determine If The MicroPod 2 Will Be Compatible With Your Platform

The Chrysler MicroPod 2 is able to provide coverage for the following platforms:

  • Chrysler
  • Jeep
  • Dodge
  • Fiat

It is used as an alternative to the following scan tools:

  • StarScan
  • StarMobile
  • wiTECH Pod

The MicroPod is small enough that it can fit inside a shirt pocket. The tool's main strength lies in how easy it is to use. The tool allows for an ECU to be programmed without needing to head to the dealership. The programming can now be performed in-house without the vehicle needing to be towed. The device is also very user-friendly and easy-to-navigate. The program can indicate whether the ECU is communicating, which is critical for diagnostics. The device provides accurate codes, which makes it easier to determine which modules are communicating on which buses and to determine what needs to be repaired.

Make Sure That Essential Websites Are Not Blocked

The MicroPod does not initially come with wiTECH 2 and instead needs to be set up for this. To use the MicroPod setup utility, you will need to make sure that your network does not restrict several websites:

  • mixpanel.com
  • chrysler.com
  • bugsnag.com
  • fcawitech.com
  • jeep.com
  • dealerconnect.com
  • witechsystem.com

You will also likely need to disable your antivirus software for the utility to run properly. The application can be downloaded by logging into DealerCONNECT > Service > wiTECH Information > microPOD Setup Utility. Click "run" to start the downloading process. You may be required to install the wiTECH Driver X64. However, the app might already be installed and this may be unnecessary. You may be forced to update to a newer version of the application, though. The setup utility is a standard utility where you click "next" to move from one stage of the installation to another.

Updating The MicroPod 2

Connect your MicroPod to your computer via a USB. If you receive the message "Due to network configuration..." you should check your Internet connection. If you are connected to the Internet, make sure that your firewall is not blocking the application. Otherwise, you will be allowed to click "continue" to continue the setup. Login to wiTECH 2.0 and click "continue" to update the operating system of your microPOD. Click "Update Now." Click OK, and then your microPOD will be ready.
